Great game!
My wife has Jewel Quest on her phone. I looked into it also, but the app is a really big file, so I looked into similar games. Jewel Star is a much smaller file, but also a lot more fun to play.
Pros:
-4 stone combos make a bomb thatll destroy every stone that touches it (9 stones)
-5 stone combos make something thatll shoot a laser straight across the screen and destroy all the stones in that row.
-theres a bomb that destroys everything in a cross-fashion when you move it.
-youll get glowing stones. When you combine them with 2 other like colors, it blows up every stone on the board of that color.
-at first, I thought I was being timed (timer thing at top of screen), but its not. I think it has something to do with your score. I dont really care about the score though because I just want to clear the board. So youre not being timed. However, you may run out of possible matches, which will end the game.
-Both my wife and I like this better than Jewel Quest.
Cons:
-after you beat a level, itll display 3 ads in a row. Just "x" them out and you can get on with the next level. After a while, you get used to them, so theyre really no big deal.
-the levels dont seem to get all that much harder as you move up. For instance, were on level 142, and the main difference is that some squares need to be blown twice, or that there are more of those. But otherwise, not much difference (but its still fun to play anyway).
-if you close out the app (swipe it up), youll have go start over next time you play (no saving games). However, we just keep the app running in the background, and that allows us to continue where we left off last time.
-Begins to crash once you get to level 145. Unfortunately, thats when I had to delete it.
So if you like Jewel Quest, but want a much smaller app, no loss of graphics, dont want to be timed, and is just as fun (maybe even more so), then Id definitely suggest getting this app.
